The most recent trip was to the Dominican Republic in late October of 2022. 

We participated with Solid Rock International who serve the population in and around San Juan de la Maguana.  Our team comprised of 4 RN's, one surgical tech, an anesthesiologist and an ENT physician  flew into the capital of Santo Domingo and then made the 3 hr travel inland to San Juan. The week began with a half day of screening surgical patients and setting the schedule for the week.  70- 75 patients with their families lined the corridors to be seen.  Due to time and supply constraints, almost half had to be turned away. Over 3 1/2 days, 41 children and young adults underwent adenotonsillectomy procedures.  These chronically suffering patients had not only their health trajectory improved, but also the lives of their families who face the constant stress of family illness
